PRACEdays19 Awards

Keeping with tradition, PRACE presented 4 awards at the closing session of PRACEdays19 during the EuroHPC Summit Week 2019, which was held from 13 to 17 May in Poznań, Poland.

On Thursday 16 May, at the closing plenary of PRACEdays19, Serge Bogaerts, Chair of the EuroHPC Summit Week Organisation & Programme Committee, and managing Director of PRACE aisbl, presented the following four PRACE awards to excellent scientists and researchers.

Debora Sijacki

PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC

The PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC was presented to astrophysicist Debora Sijacki of the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Debora could not be present in person, but sent a video recording of her presentation. More information on her work can be found here.

PRACE Best Scientific Presentation Award winner Michele Buzzicotti and XX at PRACEdays 2019

PRACE Best Scientific Presentation Award

The PRACE Best Scientific Presentation Award went to Michele Buzzicotti of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy for his presentation on “energy cascade in rotating turbulent flows” during the PRACEdays19 scientific parallel track on physics.

PRACE Best Industrial Presentation Award

Τhe PRACE Best Industrial Presentation Award was awarded to Oriol Lehmkuhl of Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) for his presentation on “high fidelity simulation of vortex induced vibrations for flow control and energy harvesting” which summarised the results of the VIVALdI project.

PRACE Best Poster Award

The PRACE Best Poster Award went to Martin Golasowski of IT4Innovation national supercomputing center and VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic for his poster entitled “distributed environment for traffic simulations”.
