SUMMARY:KCSC Summer School 2026 Introduction to High Performance Computing
DESCRIPTION:In continuation of what was previously called the PDC Summer School the KCSC “Introduction to High Performance Computing” summer school is held at the main KTH campus in Stockholm.\nIt is open to students and researchers from academia or industry\, from all over the world. Ph.D. students can get normal university credit points through KTH for attending the KCSC Summer School. \nThe school focuses on the skills needed to utilise high-performance computing (HPC) resources for research. It consists of lectures and guided hands-on lab exercises using the Dardel HPC system at KCSC. The school includes an introduction to parallel algorithms\, parallel programming\, modern HPC architectures\, performance analysis and engineering\, and software engineering. Case studies in various scientific disciplines will be used to help illustrate practical research applications of the topics. \nThe summer school will be held on: \n\n20-21 August 2026\, online\, 9:00-12:00\n24-28 August 2026\, onsite at KTH\, 8:00-18:00\n\nFor more information\, go to the KCSC Summer School website.

SUMMARY:HPC Leadership Institute - EU Edition 2026
DESCRIPTION:In 2026\, the HPC Leadership Training Institute will return to Europe for the second time\, hosted again by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center in collaboration with SURF\, the University of Luxembourg\, the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC)\, Microsoft\, Nvidia\, and Red Oak Consulting. This well-established four-day\, in-person workshop is designed to support current and future leaders in high-performance computing (HPC) by equipping them with the practical knowledge and strategic insight required to lead effectively in this fast-evolving field. The HPC Leadership Institute places strong emphasis on networking\, and numerous activities are tailored to encourage connections. \nNow in its second decade\, the Institute covers a comprehensive range of topics including procurement strategy\, cost modelling (with a focus on Total Cost of Ownership)\, risk management\, value frameworks\, and the wider organisational impact of HPC investment. The training draws upon the extensive experience of its tutors and reflects the lessons learned from hundreds of successful HPC procurements around the world. \nOriginally launched at SC13 in Denver and developed further through annual events at TACC and Stanford\, the programme has become the sector’s leading independent training initiative for HPC leadership. It attracts a diverse and highly engaged international audience\, and its alumni now number over a thousand. \nThe 2026 edition will be led by Andrew Jones\, Christine Harvey and Owen Thomas. Participants will benefit from a highly interactive environment\, real-world case studies\, and the opportunity to connect with peers facing similar challenges. \nThis event represents a unique opportunity for stakeholders across academia\, industry\, and the public sector to develop the leadership skills required to deliver and sustain world-class HPC services or AI infrastructures. \nFor more information and registration\, visit the event webpage or contact the organisers directly. \n
