SUMMARY:First PRACE Intersection Seminar (PRACE IS)
DESCRIPTION:The first PRACE Intersection Seminar (PRACE IS) will take place in Brussels at the prestigious Fondation Universitaire on 4 and 5 February 2025\, and will gather members from various HPC User Communities in Europe. \n\n\n\nTwo workshops will be held on the first day. During one of these\, invited speakers will present the work in progress on the current edition of the PRACE Scientific & Innovation Case. Participants will be invited to give feedback and suggest topics that are transversal to all domains of Science and Innovation. In parallel\, a workshop entitled Implementing PRACE as a Service will aim to identify proposals for the future service portfolio of PRACE. Experts will elaborate on the relevance of a service-oriented approach for the Association. \n\n\n\nOn the second day\, the takeaways of both workshops will be shared and consolidated into milestones for PRACE\, going forward. \n\n\n\nEmbedded in the event is the traditional PRACE Award Ceremony which will present distinguished scientists with the PRACE HPC Excellence Award and the PRACE Ada Lovelace Award for HPC. \n\n\n\nA cultural activity and a dinner are part of the social programme for the evening of the first day.Check our event (Indico) platform for registration and more information on the programme. \nA news item on the outcomes of this event as well as a small photo gallery is published here.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Updating the Scientific and Innovation Case
DESCRIPTION:PRACE is kick starting a new edition of its Scientific and Innovation Case with a workshop\, where visionaries\, innovators and leading scientists from across Europe and beyond will converge to sketch the future of scientific research and innovation relying on HPC and its related technologies.\nThe workshop will present the future structure of PRACE after its PRACE 3 evolution\, and will also include insightful keynote presentations\, engaging discussions\, and collaborative dialogues among esteemed peers.\nThe main focus of this workshop lies a pivotal objective: to usher in a new era of computational excellence. We will embark on an ambitious journey to revisit and reimagine the case for the use of High Performance Computing (HPC) – today with Artificial Intelligence\, Quantum Computing and other advanced computing technologies – to support Science and Industry endeavours. Building upon the foundation laid by “The Scientific Case for Computing in Europe 2018 – 2026\,” a seminal work published by PRACE in October 2018\, PRACE sets itself the target to publish a new edition in 2024.
